HERE'S THE LINEUP CHARTS ON DAY 1

Post by sd on Feb 13, 2017 21:16:04 GMT -5
I Like Ira's URA position- From a technical point- it closed above an orderly Cup formation today- Price pulled back in an orderly way into a short term sideways base and made an upside move- with a breakout on a wide ranging bar closing at the highs . Looking at the chart, past wide ranging volatile bars accompany price moves higher- The question then , is how to position a trade? i chose both options- A breakout - where price has to move higher-$18.70 and a lower limit order entry $18.25.
Pullbacks into cup or saucer type formations offer good opportunities to enter into a trade that is already in an established trend. I generally would not wait for a breakout to occur- My preference would be to enter following a basing action, as price closed above the converging ema's- noted on the chart- This simply gives an entry that has some technical validity, and is relatively close to the basing action that provides a logical and realistic support that price should not delve back into. This gives the trader the advantage of taking a tighter entry to a defined Point of failure with a lower % stop-loss being realistic. The potential breakout may be met with some profit taking - or- may continue higher- or both- Thus, i set both a limit entry lower than the close- and i also set a buy-stop higher than the close-I would prefer to get a fill on the minor retracement of the breakout- because it is closer to a defined swing low stop-loss- but we will see how this plays out. Regardless, looking at the wider time frame, the momentum trend is to the upside- no point in arguing with the flow of the tide- The Ocean cares not-I learned that lesson the hard way.... Which reminds me of the time a friend and i sought to paddle in Kayaks down to Boston, but journeyed out to discover the island we could barely see-By the time we reached the island, it was mid afternoon- and as we sought to return home, we fought the outgoing tide- and arrived-eventually-exhausted- well after night fall back into Salem harbor. Trading with a defined Tide favoring you is generally beneficial- capturing the turn in the tide takes much practice and much more effort. At least that is how i view things presently getting back on theme- URA is in a larger uptrend . The $16.25 level in the basing should be a higher swing low on the daily- but it represents too wide a % loss if entered on the buy-stop order. The buy-stop order assumes a higher fill and could possibly use the 4 ema as a stop- where the pullback limit may work with the 10 ema as a stop-Either way- I think trading in this present market environment favors taking the With Trend momentum. LOL! My boat hit some rocks today, with some stops taken out-I had my buy stop for URA $18.70- $18.80 lmt- might raise it a bit- Low was $18.81-today! Close. Still holding TSLA, but today's pullback from the high suggests momentum is in question a bit- Nice momentum IRA!

GEES Tiarra, I had you listed short on the graph- must be my mixeduplexia kicking in- Dual moves in the sector looking good- I like the chart move of ALXN coming off a base holding on prior support (126) Check out the pharma PJP etf- Ual is 3x at bat at this level- JETS - a recent airline ETF has moved similarly-but broke & closed higher today. Was filled on URA as it pulled back today-
