The discrepancy in the gain on Spiderman's default pick EXAS (35% YTD) and the gain on one of  his year  long picks EXAS (+22% YTD) is explained by the differences in base price.   For the year long contest, he got his picks in on Jan 6 and got the open on Jan 7 (71).  As his default pick, he got the price on the year's open (64.14)
