I did a few calculations allowing 3 pointgs for a win, 2 points for a place and 1 point for show. No points were allowed unless a horseracer finished the week in the black

I don't know, blyghme. To me, a win is a win, etc.

I understand your point if is was just each of us versus the market or trying to make real money; but the horse race is a relative game thing. There is always a winner. (it's us versus bankedout. HE HE HE)-- just kidding the champ here folks. So the way I see it, bankedout has 12 wins (and I have 10). And that's the way I plan to continue determining the yearly championship -- unless the membership votes to change it. (that was also how lobsterman was made champion in 2007)

BTW, some races only had 3 or 4 entrants. By your concept of "show" some horses would get points just for having entered and finished in the black. Personally, I like it simple and easy. Afterall it's just a game that helps to keep us at least a tad active here at the website during slow times. I for one don't actually consider the horse race to represent our best investment ideas or strategies. It's just a game we play for fun. I'm against using it in any way that grades participants in general or casts any member in an unfavorable light.

Of course, as usual, any member is invited to speak his or her mind on this issue. We are very democratic here.
