I can't say what happened to Tiarra - she is running a small business probably working 80 hrs a week.  She has not made a pick since November

I exchanged a couple of e-mails with Tiarra last week- Thought she'd get her pick in this week- Hope she gets the time next week



Shall I enter her 2017 default pick ETSY jn this week's contest?
i WOULD SAY YES- But it raises the question of How long a period of inactivity will a pick be viable without a follow up post- - and what is Fair to the other members participating-
Not my call- something others can vote on if it's a concern- My 2 bits- It doesn't take but 5 minutes to log in once a month- and say - "keep it going-" But- consider that carrying a default pick for an extended period without participation by that individual- perhaps they have moved on to other interests.....That's totally understandable- but I feel it's not "FAIR" to those that actually take some time to consider an entry and post their picks-and those results diluted by an absent participant over an extended period... I would opt that after 4 (?) 8 (?) 12(?) weeks of default picks without a log -in - that default pick would be suspended. Life happens at times to all of us- and that's understood- The member could get his/her pick back in with a simple post if so interested-
Members can contact all other members by clicking on their name- and send a PM as well to Say "HEY!Missed You! " We've got quite a bit of longevity here-as a group- YEARS!
But, Life happens, people lose interests, divorce their spouses, and move on to other priorities- A periodic log-in to keep the "active" default status competing seems reasonable & fair to me-
It's a rarity in this highly social changing world we live in today that we have a group that has been in existence for this many years that has just seemingly come together to participate in the "Horse Race" as our primary focus- Kind of the BUOY that is always anchored -always there- perhaps that's more a comment about the types of personalities that choose to take the time- without reward, compensation etc and jump in here weekly- EACH of us has other priorities that likely call us- but by and large, moth to the flame- we return here usually weekly- The Act of participating is indeed taking an Action-
There are numerous people that are content to view- but choose to not engage at even the most basic level- for whatever their own reasons are- For those that choose to participate- i appreciate that one takes their personal time every week to provide their input, insights, and hopes- in this little contest we hold-

Happy new year, Fellows! I am sorry I have been MIA. It was not my intention at all. I have just been extremely busy. No, I don't have an 80 hour a week job, other than homeschooling my kids and a selling a product I created on Etsy and Amazon. I do check on here to see how things are going, but have just been lazy about making a pick. I will try to do better! Is it too late to enter yearly picks? Also, I will find a default pick soon. For next week, I am going to go short AA. I think there may be some profit taking there next week, although I think aluminum in general is really taking off. I hope you guys are all doing well and are ready to get stomped! lol

Welcome back and congratulations on the 2017 weekly competition win.  You can still join the 2018 year long contest with 5 picks (and congratulations again for a second place finish in 2017) I will give you the next opening price after posting.  Do you still want ETSY as your default pick?   Home schooling your kids is a labor of love but a labor none the less.  You have my admiration.  We adopted some new rules you might check out in the horserace board.

You are right, home schooling is a labor of love. I couldn't school kids I didn't love! lol I will check out the new rules. I think ETSY will probably continue to do well, but will probably change my default. I will choose one this weekend.
