My Belief is that the global economy will continue to expand and exposure to innovation and growth- particularly in foreign markets - will dominate in 2018. I was looking at various multi-factor funds to slice and dice - and - while it may be difficult to get the same growth in 2018- I think the active focused sector type of fund is worth considering- No guarantee that past performance will be seen in 2018-
Note the disclaimer- "Momentum Style Risk. Investing in or having exposure to securities with positive momentum entails investing in securities that have had above-average recent returns. These securities may be more volatile than a broad cross-section of securities. Returns on securities that have previously exhibited momentum may be less than returns on other styles of investing or the overall stock market. Momentum can turn quickly and cause significant variation from other types of investments, and stocks that previously exhibited high momentum may not experience continued positive momentum. In addition, there may be periods when the momentum style is out of favor, and during which the investment performance of the Fund using a momentum strategy may suffer."
My 5 picks : FNI-- ETF with exposure to India and China - dominant growth story with India exposure- 47% past year
The following funds focus on various market segments- One fund overlaps the other 3 , but i have included it as one of my selections- the % was the 2017 performance ARKQ- Industrial innovation - 51% ARKW Web /cloud 85% ARKG Genomics 45% ARKK Innovation 86%
ark-funds.com/
www.etf.com/channels/equity-etfs over 1400 ETF's to select from- you can click on the screening tool to select performance statistics- While a 1 year outperformance may have occurred for more funds this year- I think a look at the 5 year stats as well perhaps is worth considering in making an Investment choice.

Year long picks: POT, FM, EPI, JO, and TSLA short
Very little logic here. Performance will probably be commensurate.
Good luck everyone! Happy New Year! -ira ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's January 3 and I just found a glitch in my picks. I was trying to pick fertilizer producer Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan (POT). But POT merged with Agrium Inc January 2 creating a new company Nutrien Ltd. trading under the symbol NTR. It trades on the TSX and NYSE. Potash Corp stock POT stopped trading.
It seems to me the most logical thing to do is to change my pick from POT to NTR. It's still the same fertilizer company, plus another one. If that's okay, please change that stock symbol from POT to NTR. Thanks. -ira
Done
