YUP, I'll go with my Default pick - XBI- lost track of time - Although Bitcoin has rallied up today- I'd be more inclined to think this mania will get sold off hard- and something based on actual value will emerge- eventually. I read that GBTC pricing at times has traded at up to a 100% leverage to the bitcoin value it reportedly tracks-
Got to do some planning for the Year Long Investment Race-

 Spiderman's YTD  corrected to disallow loss due to OTC non qualifying stock GBTC - Real Deals YTD is corrected to diasllow his 31.58% on GBTC gain from week 47 - Wins place and shows also corrected
Oops!! also corrected now for week 37 Sept 22 -SD finished 1st on GBTC with a 5.24% gain - this gain is disallowed due to it being an OTC stock.

You are right I will make changes - Typo- I did also make changes to SD's YTD due to his Sept 22 'win' with GBTC being disqualified.  I will post two sets of results one disqualifying GBTC wins/loses - a second recognizing gains/loses due to GBTC.  I remember when TD Ameritrade reversed a very profitable short term I made because I made too many day trades that day.  It ticked me off enough to change brokerages.  I am sympathetic to retroactive changes - I did not raise the issue.  When folks start acting like Philadelphia lawyers I just throw up my hands --take whatever result you think is fair - I will post both.  I can't make everyone happy.

One of the things I've always appreciated about this site is the civil tone. There are lots of discussion boards with name calling and disparaging comments about intelligence The rules here say, "All members are expected to treat each other with respect." I hope we can keep that civil tone. blygh's an unpaid volunteer and a prince for doing all the work to maintain this game. And it is just a game. Lighten up RD. No one is out to get you. It looks like you have an excellent shot at winning this week's race. Kick back and enjoy! -ira

I appreciate Blygh taking the time to do all of this recalculation-and the updating - Indeed, i pointed out in the post that i had had a win (at least one-perhaps more?) using GBTC- and if one is negated, all are negated- including my wins using it - None of us intentionally noticed it was an OTC and therefore - it has been an oversight- for many of us- When i became aware of the OTC status, I had to bring it up not to take away anyone's wins or losses, but it was obviously not compliant with the rules as they have been outlined since DG's passing -included regular ETF's but not leveraged- I don't think OTC picks were ever allowed during the history of the race- I had a moment or two of reservation when i realized the possible disruption a disallow might cause- The choice could be made to allow results to stand up to this point-but not going forward from here on unless there was a rule change regarding OTC
There's a lot of cooperative history- going back years- and some good spirited /fun challenges here- and perhaps an occasional unintentional glitch - error-failure to update the charts etc..all human stuff.. As per Tiarra's absence- I think it would be appropriate to limit how many multiple weeks one stays listed just using the default pick without a sign-in during that period- Life happens- I PM'd Tiarra recently and will try to do so again-
I would suggest a limit of 4 consecutive weeks without a sign-in using the default- Some are fortunate enough to travel for extended periods- or get really pressured by the day job -and if so noted, the period could be extended.
I think a single log-in during that 4 week period would be adequate-to extend the default pick for an additional 4 weeks- although it's better to have more active participation- and some neighborly discourse along the way.

This website is whatever the members choose to make it-and the time they have to spend in doing so-
Perhaps Blygh would once again copy and post the RULES so members could make any final comments as we go into 2018- Members then could vote on any member proposed changes- and majority rules-

Let's not forget that the 1 YR investment race picks will be due - RD has submitted his- and i'm not sure if anyone else has yet-
I intend to kick some ALPHA this year on the Investment side, I need some other ideas though!

I actually praised him for the job he has done. Please don't preach to me about that rule, the history behind it ... with DG... is way before your pro-board.com days.

I can only imagine how busy Tiarra is, she runs her own business, no joke there. I remember you even emailing me because I didn't post for a few weeks straight, so again her default pick is running for how long? LOL so now if her wins are voided, you will probably win the whole thing. I want you to put me in your speech .

No more rules need to be posted or reposted or tweaked etc, your insanely busy these days, and your replies to this whatever you call it... are appreciated. Way too much time and effort involved for what? Somewhere along the line, there will lapses or multiple errors anyway. Why should you or anyone invest anymore time and again effort for just a game.

So not to make this into a never-ending tale, I like my default pick for (2018) to be ICPT long. I also like to wish everyone a Happy Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

This is my understanding of what the rules are -OK???


                  HORSE RACE RULES:
1. Entries must be from the NYSE, NASDAQ or the AMEX - no OTC (Over the counter) stocks are allowed.

2. No leveraged stocks/leveraged ETFs, options

3. Entries entered before the Friday close (@fc) are priced at the Friday close unless the rider specifies the Monday open. An @fc close entry is not changeable.

4. Entries after the Friday close can be changed until 21:00 Sunday night or if Monday is a closed market, 21:00 Monday night

5. Minimum opening price for picks is $8. You may choose a stock below it but the opening price will be adjusted up to $8. Stocks with a price below $8 at the time of posting may not be shorted.

6. Stops, limits and buy stops are allowed. A buy stop will stay open for the week or until it is met. If a stock hits a stop loss the rider gets the price at the first trade at or below the stop loss. If a stock hits it limit the rider gets the price of the first trade at or above the limit.

Just clarifying #2-
"No leveraged stocks/ETFs, options " - does allow the use of conventional ETF's- Simply means that leveraged ETF's are not allowed.

I added the term "leveraged to the ETF part - ETFs are OK - -I am thinking about having a month long 5 stock ETF contest.  I have certainly made a few bucks on other riders' insights.  I would like to hear more about other riders 'sense of the market'.   

For the long term contest my picks are HLT, BA, OC, WLK, XOM
