Real Deal I always remember what Warren Buffet said about gold. “Gold gets dug out of the ground in Africa, or someplace. Then we melt it down, dig another hole, bury it again and pay people to stand around guarding it. It has no utility. Anyone watching from Mars would be scratching their head."
The problem with any 'money' is that there can be too much or too little of it. Ideally the money supply keeps pace with the good and services produced in a society (monetarism) - More goods and services than money -> deflation More money than goods and services-> inflation. Mining technology can increase the of gold mined but at great expense. Bit coin can be 'mined' too but cannot just be printed like paper currency. The block-chain prevents counterfeiting. So it is an ideal currency - fungible (you can divide up a bit coin into tiny bits) - portable (it is fixed in the block chain), limited production - and most of all - people are starting to believe in it and accept in payment

HEY RD, SD, no real money yet with any bitcoin/related stocks. I was watching most of the day SRAX and TEUM... I canceled two orders with TEUM watching on the 5 min chart. I had to buy way too many shares and too much resistance in the way, so I just went for a much needed walk. I know how you feel with SQ, My WDC +3 profit gone, due to a d**n downgrade as well and AMP out at breakeven today.
I'm actually still in the small money with Riot- just missed all that Gravy- Entry $10.38 stop now at $12- And SQ with a raised stop ; stopped out for a decent net gain- still holding AMP with a $159.18 cost basis- Didn't consider AMP as related to anything Crypto- just came up on the SCTR screen/financial - Trade small if you choose any of these- Crypto plays- with monies you don't mind losing. I have no idea of how you can evaluate the potential for the chart to move in your direction- haven't a clue what the up/down moves are based on- Dangerous territory- Blygh's right- a bar of gold is tangible- drop it on your foot and you see the results- There is no telling where these crypto trades go- most will likely end up in digital purgatory and the cash investors that hang on - Bacon. Once the Hog gets slaughtered.
On the other side- The "Put it all on Black" and spin the wheel, has a 50-50 chance for a win!~

LONG CBOE @ FC - Has been a position for a while- Solid uptrend- held up well in today's sell-off- News about Bitcoin futures- Still trading it with a stop-loss Stop for the race $119.00 finance.yahoo.com/video/bitcoin-futures-regulators-ok-cme-140600234.html
Volatile Day- Dropping on political news-and a later recovery tells you how 'touchy' the trigger fingers are that control the large money!
Might get some sign of Tax reform passing this weekend. That should be priced in already - Failure is not an option for the politicians-
I added to the CBOE position today- smoother trend than CME-
And a pre-Close Congrats to RD!

Congrats RD great pick. Blygh I think there's a calculation error on the YTD weekly totals. IRA came in 6th but his place wins went from 11 to 12. SD came in 7th but his win total went up from 7 to 8. RD won the race and both his win totals and place totals went up. I came in and no change to my totals. Thanks, Spiderman Checked - see page 3 - Ira's w p s was not changed from the previous week =12 SDs totals have not changed from the previous week =8 -RD's wins went to 5 - I did mistakenly increase his place finishes to 11 when I should have increased yours- both errors now corrected - sorry about that - Glad you are checking PS - found another error -at week 47 the total wins place and shows should - 47/each - but there were 48 second place finishes - checked - in week 42 I gave myself two additional 2nd place finishes instead of one (5 instead of 4) - now corrected.

ALGN long next week, stop at 243
Congrats RD! Thanks Blygh for the thought provoking comments on gold, currency, and Bitcoin.
I'm tempted to go short and have that side of the board to myself. With tax cuts done there might not be much in the news for Mr. Market to eagerly anticipate. And the risk of something bad happening might become a focus.
But betting against this market has been a fool's game. So I'll stay on the long side and go with a momentum pick. (Now watch the Dow drop a thousand points this week) -ira
