SD, you must have a strong stomach! GBTC traded over $1,000 a share on August 31 and for less than $500 a share on Sept 14. Now it's almost exactly half way between those extremes. And that's just the last 3 weeks! Recently way more volatile than 3x leveraged junior gold miner JNUG. I've read there are about 800 crypto currencies. Will Bitcoin be among the winners? Early in the history of personal computers the pioneers included Altair, Datapoint, Kenbak, Micral, Xerox, Commodore, Tandy/Radio Shack, Atari, Sinclair, etc. There are often very few winners in new technologies. I know it's only play money in the horse race, but I think Bitcoin and GBTC will crash and burn at some point. But you'll have a wild ride till then. -ira

Hey Ira! I certainly wouldn't make any actual investment in Crypto Currency or GBTC unless I had a pocketful of extra money I was planning to give up on a trip to Vegas or Atlantic City! Brian Kelly on the FAST MONEY /CNBC thinks that Bitcoin will go to $5000.00 - great for those who threw some Risk money in at the early days - Because of the volatility, and lack of trading history, any directional bet is just a gamble- but the gap back higher this week leads me to think it may well go back higher- But I flip the quarter and it shows tails on the other side- so who knows? I am following Spiderman's approach of betting on volatility for the purpose of the Horse Race- and to a much lesser degree in my actual trade positions- It's almost similar to bettting on a Biotech candidate- just ahead of it's FDA review....

I see that Jamie Diamond, CEO JP Morgan, came down hard on Bitcoin and now the Chinese may be forbidding Bitcoin transactions. I see Bitcoin as being no different from another currency (or any barter item, for that matter). They all have value only so long as people are willing to exchange their goods and services for it. That holds for gold and art works as well as tulip bulbs and baseball cards. There has to be a critical mass of individuals willing to recognize Bitcoin as a repository of value. Value varies with liquidity. I can't pay the supermarket or the IRS with Bitcoins although I can unlock a hacked computer by paying ransom with them. That creates demand. Blygh

OPNT long. Stop 34.
Congrats SD and thanks for the interesting comments about Bitcoin SD and blygh. In recent weeks I've been trying to pick steady growers with low risk of a big drop, i.e. more singles and doubles with fewer strikeouts, but little chance for a home run. HP is a good example right now. But I'll give in to temptation and try a high flyer that seems timely, OPNT. Up over 50% in the past week. It develops drugs to treat addictions. I'll probably regret this, but it should be interesting. -ira
