SD, I am concerned with the reasonableness of electing a Friday close price but putting in a stop a day later. Suppose I take a stock at the Friday close e.g. $100. Then in the after-market it is down $10 on news of a product failure. Now I am worried so I put in a $89 stop. Is this any different from entering a Monday afternoon stop after a stock starts going down?

Not the reason to set the stop over the weekend- I was finally adjusting stops on my other position- But I understand your point.... Hmmm... If that was the case- one could simply choose to change horses altogether- scratch the Friday pick and select a better horse over the weekend-
We can make that a criteria if the FC pick is to have a stop- Stop must be placed ahead of the FC.... I'm good with the logic-If you have the "advantage" of a pre FC , include stop or limit before the FC. Go ahead and scratch my stop.

Link to this week's Charts
stockcharts.com/public/1675108 Charts are updated during the day. I also left the prior week's charts in this chart list- Highlighted by a yellow rectangle on the chart- Thought it might be interesting to compare how the prior week did this week.... Anyone have any suggestions? Feel free to Chime in!. Nice idea - Blygh

I was able to watch the movement periodically in NVCR today-and i took a series of screenshots as it sold off hard at the open, took out any stop that was under the base- down to 17.21 (My stop was $17) and then it reversed and promply moved back higher- I wondered at the time that this was potentially a manipulated sell-off to get the shares at the stop price, and then it indeed did move higher-Closing right near the high - I decided i would sell about 1/2 of my remaining position by setting a higher stop- that executed at $20, and moved the remaining stop to $19. This captured a 15% gain on that portion of the shares i sold- I may ease back on the $19 stop- because this type of move may be setting up for a bigger run with Institutional monies taking a position- or perhaps there is some News? I posted several snapshots during the day in the Strategies thread, but will add some here- Charts are done with shortened time frames to illustrate the price action during the trading day. I'm of the opinion that this has a strong likelihood to move up further tomorrow- because of the type of price action and it went up while the sector lost strength. We'll see! GO IRA! and it makes a close at the high! I sold 40 at the pullback into $20.00, raised the remaining stop loss to $19.00

NVCR had all kinds of news today. First the bad. They reported a larger than expected 2nd quarter loss, $21.2 million. But it was a big improvement over the same period last year when they lost $40.6 million. But lots of good news. They make a treatment for glioblastoma brain cancer that is very promising. Its a unique approach to cancer treatment. No one else has a competitive product or is even researching one. Second quarter net revenues increased to $38.4 million compared to $17.9 million for the same period in 2016, 114 percent growth. They report encouraging results in clinical trials. They have strong growth in the number of patients receiving treatment and strong growth in the number of people with medical insurance that will cover Optune. Effective treatment for deadly type of cancer. No competitors. Growing acceptance by medical insurers. Rapid growth of revenues. What's not to like. Of course there have been many very promising medical breakthroughs that have crashed and burned. Stay tuned. -ira

I'll take HDB- stop @ $92.00 It's a position, ADR- and likely not directly afffected with possible turmoil in the US markets- It appears already a bit extended on momentum, sold some yesterday, holding a remaining position. 4 pm edit- I added back into HDB at the Close.
