Horse Racers: You may not have seen..... Yesterday in last week's Horse Race, I offered each quarter- starting in June- 2 prizes consisting of a choice of book or video on my shelves to the Racer with the most wins YTD, and the racer with the largest% gain. As a follow up to that, a suggestion was that each racer could consider a voluntary contribution each Month of $5.00 -towards 2 prizes at the end of the year- Again Most wins and also largest % gain. In the event that a single person holds both titles, perhaps a runner up -2nd largest YTD gain- or 2nd largest # of winning races?... TIARRA, I nominated you to be the Treasurer! Are you good with that? There are 9 months left to the year end- so a $5 kitty could amount to $270.00 if 6 members chose to join in. That could pay for a couple of subscriptions- Barrons, Stocks & commodities, Traders Mag etc- Racer's choice- Or , perhaps pay for that charting site you visit but didn't want to shell out extra for! Participation in This isn't mandatory, and it's just a suggestion- but please input guys.... What are your thoughts? Anything else we could/should do that might be of benefit to the members here?

I posted yesterday pm that I liked IRA's pick for a buy-stop entry. Posting the results here as that trade behaved as I hoped it would.3.13.17 UPDATE EDIT: I was pleased to see that ANET- IRA's horse- at least started the day off in the right direction- My Buy-Stop order was filled at the open above my entry price, but not at the higher end of my limit price. It's early yet, but the trade looks promising- I will be concerned if it closes back inside the triangle from where it broke out. My stop-loss is presently quite wide@ 118- At the low end of the prior consolidation. If the trade continues to work in my direction, i will hold as a swing trade position. ACIW was Tiarra's pick, and a position I am holding. it appears to be in a sideways consolidation-bars are a bit more volatile on the 2 hr-would like to see it tighten up and then move higher- [/font]

HAIL THE MIGHTY FED!!!!!! HPQ had gapped higher and is consolidating in a relatively narrow range- looks to be setting up as a potential breakout candidate- $17.75 stop-$18.25 limit. RD's pick JCOM - Interesting large gap higher previously, pull back, now at the prior high- $86.75-$87.00 see if it repeats the prior momentum...

Creating bubbles and then bursting them =(
I liked the pattern with JCOM but volume levels caused me to pass in real life. The stock didn't even make my final cut list.

I quit trying to interpret volume, as i never could ascertain what really would prove where the trade would go. Climax volumes- and building volumes are easier to spot- For example- I like the series of consecutive bullish vol days in the basing formation here prior to the breakout-With very Tepid volume today and price not pushing higher- We'll see where this goes...I also think it very much follows the trend or action of the wider market- note SPY opened higher , but is now losing ground.

SD,
I'm talking more average volume if it's 500,000 or below, I stay away. If there is a steady increase in volume on a base yes that's surely a positive. Opening higher and not holding gains like it should happens to be the trend since the start of the year with the markets.
