i would assume that much of a gap down was due to an earnings disappointment? Difficult to predict how much the market will punish stocks that don't meet expectations- since we are likely highly valued already.

The market still leads while SD is first out of the gate

I think the Trump bump was a lot of hype.  Renegotiating trade agreements, cutting taxes and increasing infrastructure spending while reducing the deficit are all going to be very difficult and by no means a sure thing.

I think you are right regarding the difficulty and length of time it will be to see results- major initiatives will take a long period of time -even if passed quickly- to see net results trickle down. Republicans hold the leadership and voting power- Time to put up-
There are many issues that will not be resolved any time soon- Negotiations to bring back major corporations into the US will not just happen over night because Trump declares a reduced tax policy- These will be negotiated - and the large companies headquartered overseas will expect incentives including permanent tax breaks- .
We have likely seen the best in momentum moves based on rhetoric- now, let's see what actually comes out of Congress in terms of a unified policy that the taxpayer and business benefits from. And- How do you make these reductions in the Tax base, Increase defense spending, based on longer term future growth potential- in the short term, the checkbook goes deeper into the red....
We have to give this new Administration a chance to get it's feet on the ground- and get it's new policies in place-
I'm bothered by the Tweeting- and just commentary that comes out of the Whitehouse with broad & general statements- like comments that the drug industry is over pricing ....
As one commentator mentioned recently- This used to be a Fed focused market- Now it is a Tweet focused market
i understand that Trump is negotiating - and softening up the possible opposition with his public commentary- as a business tactic-
I want to see this Administration in 18 months- and how they have proven themselves-what they have accomplished - not expecting a lot of results in 18 or so days., Granted- The market prices by looking ahead- so -perhaps that forward gain is already priced in some of the moves since november!
