The www.moneyshow.com carries a lot of videos with various traders and sites with interviews and a financial reason to place their stuff out there. Keep in mind, that profit is always the motive for all of us involved in any aspect of trading, and is always behind any money show lesson or interview. That does not invalidate what has been said or shown. Pristine.com has posted a number of videos that I have not had time to watch- Pristine sells training for traders in their style . I'm trying to link the video session on trading psychology- which I haven't viewed yet. However, the psychology of trading is a key ingredient to our success or failure- I expect this video will at least give a larger perspective to how we determine our outcomes. Perhaps I should have watched first, but running out of daylight. Good trading! SD www.moneyshow.com/video/details.asp?ret=nr&wkspID=E3AD8DE266F74468A7956B61F17D691A&scode=013672

Van Tharp has a new book "Super Trader" which combines a lot of his past book material, position sizing, system development, and the belief that- Success- it is not the trader's system that is the key to success or failure, as much as it is the psychology of the trader himself and the proper execution . He has a link to a 'Trader's personality questionaire" that one can take- don't try for a right or wrong answer- give the one that feels best suited to you-. The test will give you your personal interpretation, what trader "TYPE" you most likely are. and there are some follow up articles related to trading. The book is challenging me to see if I can actually treat my part time trading as a part time business.SD www.tharptradertest.com/default.aspx?question=1

Here's a spreadsheet that was available some years ago that tracks trades based on multiples of the Risk and ends up with an "expectancy" multiple for the trading approach- This goes along with Van Tharps approach to trading, I'm inexperienced in spreadsheet formulas, and I added some additional categories for info I think is relevant for me to track. The existing trades (4) are samples -trade 4 I just put in to see how it worked- I notice that the formula for the Expectancy ratio has to be manually put in to include only the area between the first and last trades- L4:L7, because if it had an entire column formula L4:L500, it calculates all the 0's and it changes the results. This may not be something anyone else is interested in, but I find his concept of viewing your trading and trading results from an understanding of what you are using for Risk -very sensible-along with position sizing- SD I seem to be unable to attach this or any of my other self constructed excel spreadsheets. I'll attach a photo, pic's worth a 1000 words.

Freestockcharts.com Busy weekend- Went to log on to stockcharts and they said My account had expired- and I had just renewed it a week earlier and had the confirmation letter- Sent that back to them, and they replied they had had a computer error and my renewal was never logged in. So, I resent the renewal info, but until that gets processed , no stockcharts. I've been using stockcharts for years and years- Haven't done any looking around at what else is out there I went to WWW.Freestockcharts.com (worden sponsored), and they have a very nice, robust charting program, portfolio follower, screener, and news . I don't know if this is the 'free' version of tc2000, but I'm pleased with all that is "free". I also don't know if this is just a 2 week "free" trial. Certainly worth looking into though- How about others listing the sites they find of value? SD I think this was also linked to Prophet.net

some of the best threads listed in Elite Trader- This thread separates them by category www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=204669SD- "Hall of Fame" threads- If it's going to be a long summer, the link here suggests some of the better threads developed @ ET. some of them a decade old. Not just for daytraders.

Today I found a reference to a site focused on ETF's, www.etfreplay.com/ and while I haven't looked into the site in any depth, they have a backtesting calculator that allows you to use buys and sells of various moving average/.price crosses. You can also select to see what the cross is at actual day , or wait to execute at the end of the month. Results vary largely with the ma time frame and how the etf handled the 2007 market pullback- This is the first time I have ever actually toyed with any backtesting program, and found it very interesting. Does anyone know if there is a more robust backtesting package available on the internet that would allow one to backtest mutual funds/stocks and apply different ma crossovers ? Thanks, SD

I'm not aware of any free programs to do that type of backtesting. For paid programs there are a few options. One of them is: www.worden.com/I'm sure there are many others.

"I'm not aware of any free programs to do that type of backtesting. For paid programs there are a few options.
